Welcome our Newest KinderStar

We have a shining new ‘Star in Kindergarten!! Today we welcomed Benji Buttrill into our KinderStar family.  We’re still a family of thirteen...sadly our sweet Bella moved back to Georgia – we wish her the best and hope she visits us.  Tomorrow I’ll post photos of our newest Kinder, plus more pics of what we’re doing in our classroom this week.

What are we doing this week? The Kinders are

·       still practicing rules, rules, rules & procedures

·       learning to recognize alphabet letters  Ff,Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk , Ll, Mm, and Nn 

·       reading  the popcorn words: I, am  

·       re cognizing numerals 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10  and how to recognize the number on a five-frame and ten-frame, plus the number word.

·       doing some pretty coolarts & crafts;

·       computer time-activities during math, reading and afternoon center time

·       Library Day for the Kinders is on Fridays @ 11:15-12:15.

What a wonderful first week!! I will post pictures as soon as all of the photo-permissions are back.  What are we doing this week? The Kinders are practicing rules, rules, rules & procedures; learning to recognize alphabet letters Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee; recognizing numerals 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10; doing some pretty cool arts & crafts; oh, and did I mention…computer time???

Ready for 2014-2015 kinderstars

I have updated this blog with information pertaining to this year’s KinderStars.  I will add photos after our first day, (which is tomorrow, August 11^th J), of our ‘Stars, room, activities, etc.  Remember, you can follow this blog to automatically get the updates.  Sometimes I update daily – don’t want to miss your KinderStar in action!!

My Welcome Letter

Dear KinderStar,

       I hope you have had a wonderful summer!  I really hope you are excited about beginning the school year.   Probably you and your parents are a bit nervous about the first day of kindergarten, (August 11^th @7:15).  You know what? I am too. Every year, I have butterflies when I walk into my classroom.   All of your anxieties about the “newness” of the school will soon disappear and we will all have such a great time as we start learning our routines and making friends to enjoy throughout the year.
